Good morning, DCists! Look's like it's gonna be another balmy spring day in January. It's a good thing for those of us who will be seeking alternative transportation due to the closing of the Woodley Park and Cleveland Park Metrorail stations.

>>The Washington Auto Show kicks off this weekend. This year, American automakers, specifically General Motors, plan to focus on their efforts to “go green.” "What we're really talking about here is our new family of small cars," said Mark Reuss, president of GM North America. "Some of the things we're doing on an internal combustion basis to get fuel efficiency that's, we think, second to none.”

>>Bill Clinton is American University’s first “Wonk of the Year.” He was chosen for his political policies and humanitarian objectives. When he accepts the award Friday Clinton is expected to give a speech on embracing humanity.

>>The Washington Post reported last night that the Pentagon is sending a floating base to the Middle East where commando teams will be stationed. Officials are moving with haste to establish the presence of “the mothership” as tensions rise with Iran, al-Qaeda in Yemen and pirates in Somalia. It is expected that the converted warship will be in the Middle East by early summer.

>>In Virginia, middle school kids are eating pot brownies. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.

>>Twitter’s unveiling of its global censorship program has ignited outrage and solicited accusations of "selling out" from the international community.

>>The rivalry between Govs. Martin O'Malley of Maryland and Bob McDonnell of Virginia provides an "entertaining sideshow" to the 2012 election.

Every time I make the mistake of presuming Canadians are kinder, gentler & more sophisticated versions of Americans, I take a deep breath, count to three, remind myself of Don Cherry and remember that you're just as much a bunch of loud-mouthed, bloviating assholes as us, only with no world power or responsibility.

It was during High School my friends and I made Mary-Jane Brownies. And thinking back, ours were true organics as we grew our own plants.
