Museum To Take Over Real World D.C. House

Is Your Kitchen a Nightmare?

Is Your Kitchen a Nightmare?

Is your kitchen a mess? Does it happen to be in a restaurant you own that happens to be in financial straits? Do you enjoy getting yelled at until you cry? If your restaurant meets these criteria and happens to have been open for over a year and with an occupancy of at least 35, you might be the perfect candidate for Chef Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. The show is casting for a struggling restaurant in the D.C. area that needs help getting on its feet from Chef Gordon Ramsay. more ›

Remain Vigilant, Washington

Because Snooki has arrived. She'll be making an appearance at the Washington Auto Show, signing autographs and doing...whatever the hell it is that Snooki does. (It probably involves tanning while drinking heavily, from what I understand.) Hey, maybe while getting her autograph tonight, someone can ask her what the deal is with that whole section in her "book" that condones date rape. more ›

Bobby Flay to Throwdown with Chef Gillian Clark

Chef Bobby Flay will be returning to the D.C. area to challenge Chef Gillian Clark's fried chicken -- the show will air January 19 at 8:30 p.m. on the Food Network. This isn't the first foray into television for Clark, though: her fried chicken, served at the General Store and Post Office Tavern in Silver Spring, has also been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We doubt Clark'll have any problems taking Flay down -- ten bucks says he decides to coat his chicken with potato chips and Anaheim chili powder, and call it Crunchchicken. (Just be sure to trademark it before he does!) more ›

Top Chef All-Stars Premieres Tonight, D.C. Well Represented

Top Chef All-Stars Premieres Tonight, D.C. Well Represented

Top Chef All-Stars premieres at 10 p.m. tonight on Bravo. This season features top contestants from the show's previous seasons squaring off for a second chance at becoming a Top Chef. Luckily for D.C., we've got the culinary chops to have three hometown toques competing in the competition: Carla Hall, Mike Isabella and the darling of the DCist commentariat himself, Spike Mendelsohn. more ›

Real Housewives of D.C.: The End

Real Housewives of D.C.: The End

I have to admit, I was pretty excited about last night's episode, mostly because it is the last one. The Salahis have been saying since the beginning that once the truth comes out, which it should have last night, we will see that they are innocent. We've come this far, let's do it. more ›

Real Housewives of D.C.: Week 8

Real Housewives of D.C.: Week 8

I mistakenly thought that this was the last week of the Real Housewives, but alas, we have one more week to go. For today's recap, we have an embassy party, Stacie still trying to find her birth father and Michaele getting ready for the State Dinner. more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Reunion Edition)

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Reunion Edition)

Much like the season itself, the Top Chef reunion episode was uneventful. Oh, sure, we found out who the cast of Top Chef: All Stars would be and who from D.C. would be representing us on the show. But really, the most important piece of information we found out was what really happened to the infamous pea purée. We've got some hard evidence below that answers the biggest question on all of our minds from this season. more ›

Three D.C. Toques in Top Chef All Stars

With the completion of Top Chef D.C. -- you can relive our coverage of the entire season here -- we're all still rubbing our eyes a bit from malaise. Last night, Bravo announced that they've decided to go back and revisit some of our favorite contestants with Top Chef All Stars. more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Finale Edition)

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Finale Edition)

We finally have a new Top Chef. We're not going to lie and say it's been a great road. This season was...a struggle. At times, it felt like it would never end -- apparently we aren't the only ones who felt that way. There were viewing parties for the final episode at a few area spots including Eric Ripert's West End Bistro, The Oval Room (where contestant Tamesha Warren is the sous chef) and at Top Chef alum Spike Mendelsohn's restaurant Good Stuff Eatery. But they were sparsely attended. Not that this should be a surprise -- it's hard to drum up interest in a viewing party when there's no D.C. contestant on the show. more ›

Can you believe we have made it to week six? Only two weeks left. I might shed a tear. more ›

So we've arrived at the final week of Top Chef polling. What a perfect denouement, what with yesterday's primaries and all -- though there's far less dancing going on in this race. more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 13)

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 13)

Welcome to the finale! This season we get the first ever international finale of Top Chef as the cheftestants head to Singapore. All of the chefs are excited to be there, but early on Angelo stakes this out as his home turf. What will be interesting to see is whether this actually works to his benefit. Sure, he's got a level of familiarity with the ingredients and techniques that gives him a bit of an advantage. But, on the other hand, there's a lot of pressure that comes from cooking amidst the culture that inspires you back home, and there's also the temptation to underestimate your competition and assume you've got a win in the bag. more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 12)

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 12)

As this week's episode began, we were left with little reflection on Amanda's departure last week. Kevin says what seems to be the consensus: she's gone and it was about time. There are five contestants left and no one is too sympathetic. This is the last Quickfire and Elimination to be filmed in D.C., before the top four chefs head off to film the finale. more ›

Top Chef D.C.: Week 12

Top Chef D.C.: Week 12

Only four more episodes, including the reunion, to go! Top Chef may have broken The Amazing Race's streak by winning the Emmy for best reality show this year. But based on this season, we get the feeling The Amazing Race will go right back to winning the trophy next year. more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 11)

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 11)

At the start of this week's episode, everyone was pretty unmoved by Alex's departure, and now it seems that much of the pent-up anger and disdain people felt towards Alex is shifting onto Amanda. Which, given her performance last week and in previous weeks, makes a bit of sense. more ›

Well, we've now made it through double-digit episodes in this season of Top Chef. And we've done it without resorting to a drinking game...yet. Whatever else one can say about this season, we'll admit that it's served up to a lot of classic Top Chef archetypes. more ›

Real Housewives of D.C.: Week 2

Real Housewives of D.C.: Week 2

Nothing can beat the recap that Davy DCist put together for the first episode of the Real Housewives of D.C. last week. Davy couldn't stomach watching the show again, so we've brought back our patented Real World style to fulfill our obligation to cover every reality show in this town. (Except D.C. Cupcakes. We've got some standards.) more ›

Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Week 9)

Finally, something happens on Top Chef this season. It's about damn time. We got so much in this week's episode: Nancy Pelosi, Restaurant Wars, and the return of everyone's favorite dish, pea puree. There's a ton to talk about this week, so let's jump right into the action. more ›

The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 7

The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 7

After being holed up in my basement apartment for five days, even the newest installment of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle) seemed like an exciting break from growing cabin fever. Unfortunately, what promised to be the most riveting inter-personal drama of the series ended up being nothing more than a tease. And yes, my growing fear of Ashley's tantrums made it hard to sleep. If you need to catch up on everything you've missed -- and really, if you're a federal employee, you've got the time -- check out our recaps to date. more ›
